Training Programs

Hands-on agricultural training you can put to work the same week

Our programmes are built around practical sessions, demonstrations and repetition. Participants learn by doing – on a working farm, with the materials and conditions they already have at home, and with trainers who stay available afterwards.

Learning by doing

Training that ends with skills, not just notes

Stanley Livestock Training, Climate Change Mitigation & Consultancy Firm delivers practical agricultural training to individuals, groups and institutions across Sierra Leone. Each programme is explained in plain language and then demonstrated step by step, so that every participant handles the tools, the animals, the substrate or the feed themselves before the session finishes.

We keep groups small enough for everyone to take part, and we adapt the depth of each programme to the level of the people in the room – from complete beginners to experienced farm staff who want to sharpen a particular skill. Where a group has its own farm, we prefer to train there, using their buildings, water and materials.

How our training is delivered

Practical, participatory and demonstrated on the ground

We do not hand out theory and leave. Every programme mixes short explanations with long practical sessions, so participants spend most of their time handling the animals, the feed, the substrate or the soil. Trainers demonstrate first, then guide each participant as they repeat the task themselves.

Training is participatory. We ask about the problems people are already facing and work through those problems during the session, using the resources the group realistically has. That way the skills stay with the participants and can be applied immediately – often the same day – on their own farms.

  • Demonstration sessions led by experienced trainers
  • Supervised hands-on practice by every participant
  • Group discussion and problem-solving on real farm challenges
  • Farm and site visits so learning happens in context
  • Simple take-home materials and follow-up advice

Delivered where you are. Training can take place on the client's own farm or at a suitable venue, and the content is tailored to the level and needs of the group. Tell us what your participants already know and we will pitch the programme accordingly.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

If your question is not answered here, call or WhatsApp us on +232 76 648 996 and we will explain.

Duration is flexible and is agreed with the client before we start. A short programme may run for a day or two, while a full package for a group or an institution can be spread over several sessions so that participants have time to practise between visits.

Training can be delivered on the client's own farm or at a suitable venue arranged by the group or institution. We prefer to work on a real farm wherever possible, because participants learn faster when they use the buildings, water, animals and materials they will actually work with.

No. Complete beginners are welcome, and we also run advanced sessions for experienced farmers and farm staff. We ask about the level of the group beforehand and pitch the content accordingly, so nobody is left behind and nobody is bored.

It is mainly practical. Short explanations are followed by demonstrations and then supervised hands-on practice, so every participant handles the animals, feed, substrate or soil themselves. Classroom or discussion sessions are used only where they genuinely help, such as farm record keeping and business planning.

Sessions are delivered in simple English, with explanation in the local language where needed so that everyone follows clearly. Please tell us which languages your group is comfortable with when you book, and we will plan the delivery around it.

A certificate of attendance is issued where applicable, for example when a participant completes the full programme and takes part in the practical sessions. Tell us at the time of booking if a certificate is required for your group or institution.

Group sizes are flexible. Smaller groups give each participant more time with the trainer and more hands-on practice, while larger groups work well for demonstrations and community sessions. Share your expected numbers with us and we will advise on the best arrangement.

We provide follow-up technical support after training, so participants can ask questions, check progress and correct problems early. This can include farm visits, phone or WhatsApp advice, and further guidance on production, feeding and marketing as the enterprise develops.
